    G'Day All

For the paspalum managers out there I am wondering if you have any mixes that have shown positive results for crabgrass and nutsedge. We are trialling dismiss, certainty and sedgehammer for the nutgrass and kyllinga. We have a good pre emergent program here (Maui, Hawaii), just looking to see if anyone has conducted some trials spraying these two grasses/weeds.

    Appreciate the feedback.

    Darren

We have been getting good results on the sedge with Dismiss and Sedgehammer. The crabgrass is tougher for us but we have seen some results with Drive.

We are growing Sea Isle 1 in the Cancun Mexico area.

Thanks Kevin, I was in Mexico for 6 years at El Dorado in Los Cabos. Never got over to Cancun........

Do you have any rates for either? i am using a nozzle that puts out .5-1 gallon per 1000 sq ft. I am trying to avoid too much phyto.... but tough on the paspalum.

    Hello Darren,

Below are the rates we have used here in our area.

    Dismiss 8oz per acre
Drive 75 DF 1 lb per acre
    Sedgehammer 1.33 oz per acre

We have not seen any Phyto at these rates.

    I hope this information helps.

    Darren,
I use sedge hammer which works good for the sedge. For crab and tropical signal I was using salt but I have recently switched to MSMA and echelon at 1oz per 1000 for each. Not sure if you are allowed to use it in Hawaii but it works great. Definitely hits the paspalum but it comes back quicker than when I use the salt.

    Jimmy and Kevin

What water volume is the spray going out in? Thanks again.

Never had much luck with drive on crabgrass unless you spray it 2-3 times with crop oil additive added. Watch out for Dismiss on paspalum, in florida I never had phyto @ 8oz/acre but that same rate in curacao turned my fwys to a cardboard box tan color. Sedgehammer works great on any sedge/kylinga spp. Its a slow kill but its a solid product with no burn.

My water volume was 50gal/acre. Make sure you test the pH of your solution before spraying. You may need to add an acidifier if the pH of your water gets too high.
