We are researching the market for hand held irrigation radios. Currently have Motorola PR400 that operates Toro's Osmac system with Sitepro 3.1. Our radios have seen better days and replacement may be necessary.
The replacement cost is quite expensive for this exact model radio. What other radio manufacturers are out there and how is the quality of that radio? What was the price tag?
    Thanks so much!

Contact a radio dealer directly rather than going through your Toro dealer. I get my PR400s for around $450 each. I've also had some good luck with the Kenwoods. The Vertex brand has come a long way as well.

    Matt,

Contact Joel Braun with Technical Choice in Medina. He has serviced our radios for years and has helped us with replacing our tired old radios over the last several years. The radios he set us up with had the same or better specs than the Motorola radios and were much more affordable. His prices also include setup and programming of the radios as well.

    I hope this helps.

We just purchased two Vertex 459 radios from Century Equipment. They are waterproof and have a 3 year warranty. We paid a little under $450 each. I priced out both Motorola and Kenwood radios and the Vertex radios were less expensive, had a better warranty, and are waterproof.
