    Colleagues:

I have been researching for an article on the costs of golf course maintenance equipment over the years. Specifically I need solid price information by make / brand on greens mowers, fairway mowers, trim mowers, etc. going back each year for at least 3 decades.

PLEASE email me any price / list information that you may have to jgp@alumni-GSB.stanford.edu .

    Thanks in advance!

    Jim,

    Three decades???

Probably easier, and, I would think, more accurate, to get with the major brands and ask for their list pricing (which they never charge anyway), and deduct a given percentage.

I bought a bunch of stuff in 1995 (only 2.1 decades ago) and I have no idea what we paid for any of it back then. I don't even remember the models, let alone the brands, of what we bought.

You're pretty much asking guys to remember what they paid for stuff - on average - three or four jobs ago. But then again, some guys are probably still using stuff they bought three decades ago.

    Jim:

I remember in 1976 a Toro Greens mower ( Triplex) was about $3,500.00.. A similar configuration today would be around $32,000.00.. If you had a program similar to one that is used to calculate a mortgage on a home you might be able to do the math to factor in inflation .. Also the cost of R&D...

I would think old depreciation schedules could be found in the clubs records.I remember once seeing one that went back 40 years.
