We have a system installed 2011/2012 winter season and I have had 5 fusion joints separate in 3 seasons. Has anyone else seen this? I understood the HDPE fusion should be a lifetime of worry free... I've had 2 within 5 days... This is the 3rd of this season and 1 each of the last 2 seasons.

The installer needs to warranty all of this. We have an installer that said he warranties all joints until he is dead. He's roughly 50, so any system he puts in will outlast the Superintendent in 99% of most cases.

installer comes out and repairs all on warranty, however down time and disruption is the biggest issue. 2 within a week when we are already saturated with high heat and humidity on poa/bent = bad!

    Tim:

You may have just a few bad joints or even a bigger problem where during the time frame your system was installed they were using SDR 17 pipe with 2 steps up to SDR 11 fittings.. Now after the so called "poly gate" where hundreds of fusion wields failed the standard now is SDR 13.5 pipe with SDR 11 fittings or some extremes the fittings are milled to the exact specs. of the pipe..

It would be good to know what kind of pipe you have. Just a thought

Are you seeing issues on the electro fusion couplers or where pipe is fused or melted then brought together? At least once a year we have a leak where the pipe has been brought together via welding. We replace with electro fusion couplers and have never had to go back. Also out of curiosity, what are you all paying for repairs? Luckily we own both the electrofusion machine and the bull dog welder which from what I am hearing we are very lucky to have.

An installer down here told me that if you are spending $1,000,000+, why not also budget in an electrofusion machine for repairs or additions. A few grand that will pay for itself repeatedly.

Someone made a very good decision in your case Chase.

we were supposed to get a fusion machine for repairs, but I wasn't here when the system went in and it didn't get purchased in the project. The repairs are under the warranty of life for the system.
