I have about 5 tee complexes where shade is an issue for the tee boxes. We are going to remove some trees, but unfortunately this will not provide full sunlight (maybe a total of 6 - 7 hours). These tee complexes are surrounded by trees and adjacent homeowner lots that don't want to remove a large amount of trees. I am curious what some of the varieties you have used with some sort of success? I have installed Tifgrand on other areas with some success, but then again I have the issue with adjacent homeowners. If you used Zoysia or other Bermuda: what type and what kind of success (good, average, great turfgrass stand). We don't overseed as this would add to the issue. I am located outside of Atlanta.

    Joey,

Celebration Bermuda. I have numerous tees that are shaded and have tried zoysia and tifgrand. Tifgrand does well but doesn't heal quickly, especially for par 3's. Our celebration tee's heal very quickly and I plan to continue converting more tee tops to celebration this summer.

I have no first hand experience with it but Discovery Bermuda claims to have very good shade tolerance. Try thomasturfgrass.com

Celebration. Tifgrand if Celebration isn't an option.

Discovery all the way if you have no traffic. This stuff can go months without mowing. Very slow grower. Id be concerned about divot recovery on a tee.

    Robert,

I've been hearing good things about Crystal Bluelinks (Creeping Bent from Tee-2-Green). We are giving it a try this year on our shaded and beat up tees!

Ask your sales guy about it!!
