    Gentlemen,
Was curious in our Post MSMA era what rates you are using, GPA water, and nozzle selection. I have been using Revolver(24oz) and sencor (4oz-4.4oz) per acre in 40 gal with 64 oz mycroyl and have gotten a nice punch on shorter mowed bermuda, but have had patchy success with this in the roughs. I have a lot of common bermuda so sencor can get hot if I go higher. I use Teejet turbo floodjets because it can be rather windy this time of year.

    Thanks,

    Ian Murray

If you are getting good success in the short grass, can you not just spot spray the goosegrass in the rough? A good dousing on the crown might do the trick.

Many of us in my area are having a bad weed season. I think it is because we had warm weather during the winter, the weed seeds germinated then hid during a short period of cold weather, then came screaming out shortly after pre-emergents were sprayed. I have heard that Dismiss is best on the big goosegrass. The label says no adjuvants, but it also recommend adjuvants in one area (gotta love labels). I am throwing everything I can afford at the weeds which will include a tank mix of Revolver, Dismiss and MSO, that and fertilizer and mow, mow, mow!

Used Revolver for a few years after it came out with good success. Noticed 3 summers ago that I wasn't getting the desired or expected control that I was used to seeing. Talked to a couple guys who noticed the same thing. Went back to Illoxan and it's worked great. I spot spray most of mine along with doing limited a Ronstar pre-emergent application in the spring and that seems to work best. I would rather spot spray if problem isn't too bad. Can't afford to spray anything but the weeds here.

Good luck with boom spraying for goose grass! I agree with Keith, Ronstar seems to work the best option if you can afford it. The only good results I get for goosegrass is to spot spray with sencor and diquat for small areas. I don't want to spend the labor twice in spraying. You can also spot spray MSMA but you are going to have to revisit what you sprayed several times to be effective.

    Good Luck!

Spot spraying is crucial. I have been with this course for 12 years and this is my worst year. We cleaned it up very well at one point, but it is bad this year. We will boom spray regularly, but we will spot spray continuously. We use Ronstar on tees and bad areas only. This makes it affordable at our course. I would like to hear more about experiences with Spectacle.

    Scott,

We sprayed Spectacle in the Fall, followed up with a Spring app of Ronstar so it's going to be hard to tell how effective the Spectacle is on the goosegrass but I will say that it kept the poa at bay with only minor breakthrough. We were as clean as I ever seen the place, much more so than previous Barricade apps. I did spray some near lake banks at a 3 oz rate a couple of weeks ago and made an app on cordgrass bed edges, so I will report back on the effectiveness. Since Spectacle had been released in granular form, we may try something coated on a prill next Spring when more options are available.
