Wondering what some of you do for removing a frozen sample from your green to bring in to the shop to check for "green up". I'm in the Midwest (central Iowa) and am getting exceedingly "curious" about some of our greens that area heavily infested with Poa. We've had incredibly cold temps/wind/exposure (lack of snow cover) for most of the winter.

    Hole saw?

    Thanks for any input!

Bob taking a propane torch with your hole auger usually works. I stopped doing it, it was causing me to lose sleep on something that was out of my control!

    Bob,

Im in the Quad Cities. I went out last week with a hole saw and went the depth I wanted to, then took a big screw driver and pounded it in the hole saw line. Once you get a certain depth it will either just pop out or you might have to give it a little wiggle. They are growing here!!! So far.....................

    Thanks for the input guys,

I know it is out of our control, however, I tend to be a little curious, like a cat.

Tim- Glad to hear things are looking good in yothe Quad Cities! I'm out at Jester Park G.C. just north of Des Moines.
