Well my club has a new board member that came in wanting to establish Foot golf in order to help the club out when we are slow. I am 100% for it and after a few meetings he has gotten full board approval. So now we wait for everything to get taken care of.

I wanted to bring it back up for discussion since it was discussed back in 2014 (I did a search and that was where I found the thread).

For the course that went to it, how has it worked out? Pros and cons? any advice?

from what I was told, we have enough area to set up an 18 hole course without interfering with our golfers (I'll wait to see that)

is this only for walkers or have you seen a market for renting carts out also?

My clubs plan is to offer it to our members for free and market it to outside players for a fee. Were hoping that some of our summer members may want to just join full time if they love the game.

An 18 hole muni about 15 miles north tried it for a season or two and took it out for 2016. They did get some decent revenue but I have no idea why they officially removed foot golf from their course. I was coaching a school golf match there when some foot golfers came out and it was quite the distraction. Having 27 flags flapping in the wind on 9 golf holes made it a challenge also.

We started Aero Golf earlier this year. It requires no special course set up and can be integrated straight into your regular tee times with regular golf. As far as I know there are only two other courses, Mauna Kea and Poppy Hills, who have Aero Golf. You can find out more about it at www.aerogolfnetwork.com.

27 hole muni/daily fee, We are in our third season and although we have not lost money on the investment but have not increased revenue either. It just has not taken off with the 18 to 30 year olds as we thought it would.
A lot of mom's with little kids, some adults. Most of our revenue has been from small business outings and soccer team events.
It takes some training for the clubhouse staff to understand how to get non golfers around a golf course following the orange flags.
For us the biggest cost is keeping the holes dry and cleaned out. With heavy clay soils 14 of our 18 holes become little frog Jacuzzis every time it rains and we have to take a small pump and pump them out.
In hindsight I would not do it, but I don't regret it either.
    Good luck

How or what did you use to cut around the large holes with? I am told they require a low HOC like the fairways. wondering if you can mow over the holes or if we have to use a small mower like the tees.

Some of our holes are at the edges of fairways inside the fairway cut and some we use a tee mower to mow a small areas around the hole with no issues.

We have the holes in the center of the first cut, Toro 4500 at 1.5". The mower makes a circle around the big cup hole. 5/8" fairway or 1.5" first cut.... a soccer ball does not the difference.

well the board member in charge wants all tops cut at fairway height. for most of them it will only mean cutting out half greens since we will be using the edges of the fairways as the other half.

How did the foot golf go this year so far? Problems or concerns? We are looking at starting it next year at our 18 hole muni course. Have you had a good turn out?

Of the few courses in Indiana that are listed on footgolf.us one for sure, Tipton, does not have it any more. Not sure about the rest. It seems the buzz about foot golf in our area has really quieted down.

Its not been bad but it could be better! we do better when we have tournaments and we even have birthday foot golf parties that work pretty well.

Our course would echo James comment. We have seen less groups of 2 to 8 but more corporate, church and soccer team events. If we had to do it over again we would not put the foot golf in. Since our investment is covered we will keep offering it.

I do want to add that I'm really surprised that the foot golf customers treat our course better than the golfers do!
