Looking for the best flagstick/cup combination to prevent falling flag sticks in the wind.

    Thank you

Look up Tacit Golf. I met with them at the GIS and they have a great combination of cup and nylon ferrule that works well in the windy courses in Ireland. The cup is very heavy duty, similar to Par Aide Ever White w/replacable sleeves. The ferrule is hammered on w/o epoxy so that it can be replaced each season without cutting the flagstick each time.

Our course is mostly wide open and linksy so it gets windy. We used to have a problem but found it was mostly due to trying to get more than one season out of liners and ferrules. We use the low cost plastic liners from the most common suppliers and flag sticks with grooved ferrules. We now get new liners every year and replace the ferrules every season. Our sticks are also about 6 feet. Very few falling over since.

I did have a really bad experience many years ago at a different course with flags falling over too easily. We had switched to a new flag supplier with a heavier denier and the extra weight was the problem.

Thanks Chris! When you say new liners are you talking about the cups? Do you use 3/4" tournament poles?

    Yes. Cups.

1/2 inch. We tried the 3/4 but most of our play will pull the pin, set the ferrule end on the green then let the pin drop leaving noticeable dents in the green.
