We are a high traffic, public golf course in coastal South Carolina looking at a full scale renovation in 2020. I am looking for pros/cons of some of the latest fairway-type Bermuda cultivars such as Celebration/TifTuf/Latitude, as opposed to Tifway 419. Are any of these cultivars worth exploring, or is the old tried and true 419 still somewhat of an industry standard? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Selection should depend on your daily guests, are they mainly high handicappers or better type of players, as this may determine your normal HOC. While Celebration thrives in hot and humid areas it does likes to be cut a bit lower than 419 so higher handicap players may not appreciate the tighter lies. TifTuf can be mowed a bit higher and provide a bit more forgiveness which allows a player to maybe scoop the ball a bit more. Also TifTuf is a bit easier to over seed into and transition out of. No actual experience with Latitude on a golf course, just with athletic fields.

Celebration is a really good fairway grass but it's not really a good rough grass. I have celebration wall-to-wall and Tifeagle greens. I overseed the rough in the winter with perennial ryegrass. The celebration recovers very well. The transition is pretty seamless. I have 1500 members, we routinely run around 300 rounds a day during the season
