Emerald on Faiways Cancel The title field is required!

   Looking for some input on using Emerald on fairways for dollar spot prevention. We have built some resistance to the DMI's and I am looking to rotate in some different chemistry. What rates are you guys using, length of control and success of control. Any input or recommendations would be appreciated. Looking to justify the cost. Currently I am rotating in 26019, Banner/Dac, Curalan. Thanks in advance.

   Like it in early spring and/or late fall, summer i need broader spectrum. If you need any justification, try calculating cost/acre/day as you should see extended control with this product relative to most you are using. I do go towards the higher end of the label rates but always expect 21 days control and usually can push it to 28 days unless pressure is really high.

   I've been doing Emerald apps the last few years in spring and fall. My first experience with Emerald was 2 falls ago and it turned me to it. We used to get dollar spot pretty heavy for some reason following aerification in early September on fairways so I decided to try it out and see how it did. Needless to say we applied the Emerald early September and didn't spray fairways the rest of the season and temperatures were conducive for DS through the end of October. Since then I've been doing an application in early May which gets me through till about June when we need to switch to a broader spectrum application, then doing that application again in early to mid September. Just looked at my records and we were going out at 6oz emerald/Acre, 50 gals water/Acre. I'm very happy with it, only downfall is the narrow spectrum of control. I'm located in the North Shore area of Chicago just for weather comparison. Hope this helps.

   Thanks for the input Justin, it was very helpful. I was thinking of using it in the same manner you currently are which would be early or late season when dollar spot is my only disease concern. I am located in Western NY so I believe that you in the Chicago area have slightly higher disease pressure that I do. I think it would be a good fit for me. If my math serves me correctly you are applying at the low rate. So you are getting at least 21 days of control on average at that rate? I try to stay on a 21 day intervals on fairways an stretch it if the weather allows so I hoping I can get that length of control.

   Try Emerald at the .13oz rate with 2 ounces of Chlorothalonil, instead of the .18 ounce rate, it will keep your costs down unless money is no object. There apparently is a product coming out that will have 2 ounces of Chlorothalonil and .13 of Emerald mixed together but I don't remember the name.
   
   You say you have resistance to DMI fungicides, does that include new generation DMI's like Tebuconazole? Can you get 10-14 days out of them? You can get Clear Scape Tebuconazole for like $36.00 dollars an acre. Three applications of Tebuconazole is still cheaper than one application of Emerald with Chlorothalonil.

   Yes we are applying at the lower end of the rate, and I am seeing at least 21 days control. Like you I'll push that 21 days if weather allows and the last few years it has been that way. Like I said the first app I did we didn't spray the rest of the fall until we did our snow mold control around Thanksgiving. Hope that you have similar luck as I've had with it. I may look into that recommendation from Andrew for that 2oz Chlorothalonil addition, hmmm.
