Would like some input from anyone with knowledge about Emerald Dwarf bermuda. First, second hand or whatever, it's a new one on me.

    Thanks, Terry

When I was at Long Cove, we installed it on a back tee. I believe the River Course at Kiawah has it on their fairways. Some part of me thinks that Bay Hill has it on their greens.

I was at Long Cove, it must have been 1981. We sodded that whole place.

We used emerald for our collars, against the bent greens. It was not aggressive as far as encroachment. We did over seed for a number of years along with our tees. When we discontinued over seeding to allow our 419 tees to get healthy, we also stopped over seeding collars. Unfortunately, we had to re-sod many collars, especially those that had some shade. The rye became the dominate grass, as you would expect. I am no longer the supt. at that club, but the emerald is doing very well and I would still recommend it. In Georgia, it is difficult to get. Tiffeagle gets great reviews and you may want to contact those that use it.

A course here locally put it in a few years ago during a renovation on greens. Not sure how it looks now, but they struggled for the first few years to manage it. I'm assuming its still that way.

With both TifDwarf and TifEagle being on the market for many years, I'm not sure why anyone would switch to a lesser used variety. IMO, the pure TifEagle will offer the best return on investment for the longest period.
