Has anyone had success with using electric blowers for their golf course? If so what brand, and where did you purchase from? We are beginning to get noise complaints from neighbors around the course, particularly in the morning time from our 2 cycle backpack blowers being to loud.

We purchased a greenworks 40V hand held blower and have been happy with it. It has plenty of power and light weight. It will only last a half hour on full throttle. You need two batteries to make it usefull. The batteries charge in about 30 minutes.

We have had various models. The key for us has been to get the higher voltage batteries, with a spare. Like was mentioned 40V is good. They are not practical for tasks that require constant use, bu for intermittent or shorter use tasks they work great.

On the same subject, but a different apparatus: How about anyone using the battery powered Chainsaws?

The concept seems great for simple things like a broken limb, or maybe a really small tree. I realize, they aren't intended for lumberjack use, I'd never attack a large diameter tree. But some simple trimming at things where a dude doesn't have to drag gas, have a unit that doesn't start easy, etc.

We looked hard at the Echo, but was curious as to what is best.

We have several of the Greenworks 80volt handheld blowers. Each battery lasts 25-30 minutes. We have a second battery for each blower. Although these won't replace a typical gas blower for continuous use, they are great for short blow jobs that are a few minutes here or there. Perfect for Assistants to carry with them each morning while doing rounds.

The Kobalt 80volt blower from Lowes is the same thing.

To reply to Kyle's question about chainsaws, we have a few of the STIHL MSE-170's at the US National Arboretum and they work great for little cuts even up to small-medium cuts up to 5-6" diameters. I could see how they would be more convenient for smaller jobs on the course.

Get a weedeater and you can also do short trim jobs that last a few minutes.

Do you mean the battery operated chain saw works great? Or a chain saw works great getting rid of those pesky trees that keep dropping leaves?

Yes and Yes. I feel like the battery op chainsaw is also safer. As soon as you release the trigger, it stops dead instantly. No idling chainsaw sitting around rattling away on the ground or whatever

I apologize. Do you have another way to refer to what I am talking about?

Although the term is rather vague, since it might incorporate a lot of different items, maybe 'debris" removal would be good? Then it is on the individual to use the best tool for that job of removing particular "debris"? Some debris removal might be best removed with a small blower.... ;)
