I am in the Atlanta area. I was curious what type of grass do you guys recomment for turf on a driving range tee box. The square footage is 30,000 sqft. I need a type with quick recovery and the ability to handle countless beatings from golfers 6-7 days per week. We do not overseed for the winter. Our members use the mats.I thought about Tifgrand, Tifsport or Celeberation. If you guys have any suggestions or other varietyies, please let me know. Thanks.

I would recommend Celebration. It does really well as far as recovery. You have to be on top of your primo apps, but other than that, I don't think you can go wrong with it on a dr tee.

Celebration. Added it a 20,000sw ft tee 2 years ago and have not looked back. Always had turf, aggressive, holds on in cooler temps longer.

I agree with the Celebration. We converted our back driving range tee this past summer and even with our lazy butts trying to grow it in, it was playable again in about four weeks, if not sooner. This was from dead dirt to about 90% coverage from sprigs. My only concern with it is the aggressiveness and it getting too puffy. But, if you are constantly beating it up with divots and on a good topdressing program to fill them thar holes, I don't think that would be an issue.

Seashore Paspalum or Zoyzia, both are tougher than nails and recover quickly under a good fertility program. Open mind and keep it simple several varietes of these turfs available all do well in mid south region.

    Just another option Gregg R.

I'd go with 30,000 sq ft of astro turf from Lowes. I'm sure Craig and Carl will approve.
    Ha.

Celebration. I've got 419 and redid a couple tees this summer with Celebration and was blown away at the establishment, recovery, density, and stress tolerance. I'm actively pursuing a transition to Celebration practice tees ASAP.
