Was wondering if there is a good daily log book to record what was done for the day and weather conditions. I have thought about creating a generic on excel. Lokking for something better then a "diary" type that I could pick up at staples.

    Thanks in advance,

    http://www.amazon.com/Brownline-CoilPro-5-75-Inches-Twin-Wire-CB389C-RED-13/dp/B0017D17BK/ref=pd_sbs_op_1

This is what I like to use, although I'm awful at sticking to it!! I like it because each day is a full sheet without any times on it.

I usually record any pertinent weather info up at the very top then try and do a summary at the end of the month with avg temp, rain totals, snow totals, etc.

Maybe my new years resolution will be to start keeping this again!!

The coil version is better since it lays flat on the desk.

Google Standard Diary.Hard back that comes in two sizes. I used them for over thirty years. It is too easy to loose things on a computer. Even for the faithful that back up every day.

do you have a smart phone? if so there are tons of applications or just using the notepad works. i personally don't do it but just throwing it out there. I made a generic daily jog log on excel, includes obvious items like date, weather, water(rain, irrigation amounts, etc..), events, then employee names with a box next where we put down all jobs they do in the day and at the bottom an area for notes where we can place notes for the day. has worked good, we could get more detailed though.

Although I typically don't write down the daily assignments in this book (they are kept on separate sheets), I do write down any rain received, applications made, notes on employees, pest scouting records, etc....on the planner calendars my vendors hand out. Works great as I can look back a year from now and see what we were doing application wise. Also allows me to go back and write down anything I saw from a previous application.

The daily jobs are typed up on an Excel spreadsheet and saved in folders on the network.

We track stuff with this, just an excel worksheet. We have one for everyday the crew is here. Don't pay too much attention to the details here but it works well. You can do an event page, keep personnel info handy, etc. Just a thought. I got this from an old boss and I have continued with it. Simple and effective. Can be emailed, shared, etc. I have four years of data at my former employers and this years only with my current employer. I save them as they are valuable from a data tracking standpoint. I do something similar for fert and chem.
