Cutless MEC Cancel The title field is required!

   Has anyone used this product on predominately annual bluegrass greens as a regulatory tool and not a conversion tool? What rate do you find it to still be safe. I have heard some people are using it on Poa annua greens at 16 oz per acre, what have you found?

   I think you will quickly find that is a super high rate. We have a few greens that are very high populations of poa annua. We started off at a rate of 3oz/A. about 4 weeks ago, we are up to a rate of 4.356 oz/A(.100 oz/M) now. There is a noticeable limey color to the poa, and we use a fairly heavy rate of iron. I'd start low and work your way up. Only people I've heard of using rates that high (16oz/A) are on 80%+ bentgrass greens.

   I apply 12oz/ac every two weeks on 80%+ bent. I could probably bump that up to 14oz/ac. As Andrew mentioned, the poa is more limey than I think would normally be the case. If it were predominantly poa it wouldn't look to good.

   I started out at 6oz per acre and I am now up to 8 and I like what I am seeing. My color is a little bit off on the poa, but not bad at all (typical summer stress color). You guys are getting me worried about the liquid version as for my understanding 10-12 oz per acre was still pretty safe. Andy

   I'm managing predominantly Bent greens and love Cutless. Not having experience managing predominantly poa greens I wonder what is the advantage to Cutless or Trimmit over Primo? I would think Primo would be the regulator of choice on Poa unless you are looking to convert to Bent?

   I have been using Legacy at 5oz/a on 50/50 bent/poa greens. The one difference is that I have been using GDD to apply instead of waiting 2-4 weeks between apps. I use 0 degree Celsius model thru the weather channel. Making apps at 300 GDD. I didn't feel at first I was seeing the regulation of clippings like I wanted to, so we went to 150 GDD and that's when the poa wasn't very happy. Only had 4 greens that were "dinged" up a bit. Attributed it to some moisture/heat stress at the time of app. Went back to 250-300 GDD and things are good.

   You guys had to be thinking of the Cutless 50W rates and not Cutless MEC rates. The MEC is 1/3 the a.i of the 50W. Andy

   I think if you put 12-16 oz of Cutless 50W every two weeks you'd have some very unhappy poa[i]. If primarily [i]poa[i] greens, I would hazard a guess that they are referring to the MEC formulation even at 1/3 a.i. hence my question, why risk trimmit or cutless? Wouldn't primo be regulator of choice? is it because you don't get lengthy control when it gets hot?[/i]

    I have quite a bit of bent in the greens still. I have been very easy with the rates. I started out at 6oz (MEC) per acre and am now up to 9oz. Again 9 oz ofthe MEC is equivalent to 3oz of 50W. I am still adding 3oz per acre of primo with it, but will take that out come fall. The 9 oz per acre of MEC has been very friendly to my greens!

    Our greens are 50/50 poa bent. Right now I am using Cutless MEC at 7 ounces per acre and primo at 3 ounces per acre or half of our normal rate every 14 days.
    
    We are three applications into this with little poa discoloration. Last year I did not reduce the primo and saw greater discoloration on the poa.
    
    Conversion I not our goal. We mix the two to get consistent growth regulation because we are too busy to spray primo alone based on GDD. It is a pain to fit spraying greens in every other week, to go more often is nuts.

    Mixing the two has given tremendous regulation I wish I would of done this a while ago. I am looking to convert and it was a hard cell to my ownership. I have warned them about the discoloration as I take the cutless rates up and up. This year I told my ownership it was more getting comfortable with the rates, just to see how far we can push it. Every year maybe different because of the weather, but I think a bench mark needs to be set. This has been the perfect summer to mess around with it. I like the fact my hand is on the dial and can back down or go up anytime. I am probably going to go as high as 13-15oz per acre this year as 11oz per acre just went out. I am doing this every two weeks, although my 9 oz spray was at 10 days without any issues at all.

    We have been going at the max label rate of 24.6 oz./A (MEC)since mid May and I feel that it could go even higher. We have greens ranging from 15 % poa to a few that are pushing 80%. That rate is with a touch of Primo in the tank also. We do spray a good amount of Ferrous at the same time, so the color of the greens remains pretty consistent. I actually don't mind the yellowing of the Poa, it lets you know the stuff is working. As long as the greens roll true and have some speed, the golfers don't seem to mind either. We recently cut the max rate in half and started spraying every week in hopes to keep giving bent the edge. It usually takes 5-7 days after a spray to see visual effect of cutless on poa, so want to see if this keeps it more consistent. Granted, the weather this summer has been ideal to hammer the cutless. Looking forward to the surge of heat headed this way to see if we can put some more hurt on the Poa before fall arrives.
