What are you guys using for cutting your cups? Ive seen a number of brands and was wondering which one is the best for daily use? Ours are getting old and its to time to upgrade. Probably not the 565.00 model though since we need at least 4. Thanks for your advice.

I have always like the Par Aide with the hand lever, When I was real young I liked the foot model, but now with my belly I would fall over if I stood on one foot to push the plug out.

Don't cut many cups these days, and haven't tried any of the newer fancy types, but I agree on the Par Aide w the hand lever.

Kiss methodology Keep it simple Par Aide for sure! Just need to keep it Straight when cutting the cup and one will do well! I do it daily and love it!

I have the Hole in One cup cutter and we have reduced the amount of time that it takes to cut cups and we dont have the scalped plugs from being to high and no low plugs same depth every time. The cost seems high but we have had ours for 5 years and still works like the day we bought.

I think I might try one. My course has no homes on it, but it seems like it might be noisy for course with adjacent homes.

If you have hard greens or deep roots the HiO is a n awesome cup cutter, one pull. It is heavy to haul around though.*

We switched to the HiO cutters years ago and will not go back to the other classic brand designs for the course. We use the Pair Aide classic cutters for our practice cups. I just replaced our original HiO cutters after 8+ seasons. The consistency in cups/plugs is absolutely worth it. If you can get past the price, you won't be disappointed.

Par-Aide with scalloped edges to the inside with the ejection lever. We mark the depth required to set properly with paint. Good value for the money.

We have the Par Aide with scalloped cutter and arm lever at our club. Ours are about 8 years old and still work great, especially for cutting cups on rock hard push up greens. I do agree with Mel, when I was younger I preferred the foot lever action, but my knees are not as nimble as they once were. I am looking at the HIO cutter, but the price is a little scary right now for us. Good luck.

Thanks guys, The only problem I see is in the fall when our greens at 9400 ft start to firm up I'm not sure I can get those cutters(without a mallet and after 10/11am) in the green? That being said it will be low season and changing cups daily will be on the back burner. I will have a look in San Diego and see whats best for us. Thanks again!

We had the Par Aid with the lever for years and it worked well but joined the group and switched to a HiO two years ago. It is much faster and easier to cut and eject although heavy to carry.

The only downfall we have seen is more high cups especially after a rainstorm or heavy irrigation event. If we try to take a little out of each plug the cups are low when we walk away so I am not sure what is going on but the process of cutting the cups must compress the plug more with the HiO and then it eventually expands.

I try to make a point to revisit the last two plugs when I change the next cup and give it a love tap with my heal.

I switched from the par aides a cople years ago and bought the hole in ones. My guys hated them because they are so heavy, so after making them use them for a year I sold them and went back to the par aides. If they're happy, I'm happy.

    Regards,

    Steve

We have used the HIO for the past 8 years on both USGA and native soil greens. The first 7 years it was great, but we are now (just the past 4 months) having trouble ejecting the plug. I have tried everything - replacing parts, outside / inside shell but nothing seems to work. I may just have a part that isn't adjusted properly, but other than that (and the weight) they work great.

We also used the lever action Par-Aide for years. Unfortunately I cannot seem to cut a cup deep enough to allow the hole bottoms (they prevent the cup from sinking) to work in one cut. I have never used the foot-action Par-Aide. Does anyone else still use those?
