Our well aged sprayer went down last week and our new Multipro 1750 sprayer is about six weeks out so we're looking at going granular for a while. Does the turf need to be absolutely dry, as the label suggests, before applying the Anderson's Contec DG ( 18-9-18 SGN 75) even if it's watered in within 10 minutes after the application? We were planning on mowing the green in the morning, applying the fertilizer and then watering in 10 minutes later, but the green would still be slightly damp after it was mowed. I can't imagine this fertilizer being that convenient if you have to wait for the turf to be absolutely dry before applying.

Just talked to a friend of mine today about this. He said the only issue he had was he likes to put down fertilizer in the dew so he can see what he is doing then water it in then mow afterwards. He said with the DG's though he was getting some speckling in that short amount of time due to the dew breaking it down that fast. So I guess the short answer is yes it is best to apply when it is totally dry. Personally I put it down after mowing and have no problems with speckling. Even if the greens are still a little wet and if I don't irrigate and get good dew it is enough where I don't pick it up with the mower the next morning. Pretty amazing that dew can break it down that much and that quickly.

Thats exactly how i apply DG. Directly after mowing. I usually use 19-0-15 or their starter(cant remember the analysis).

Half rate two directions, water, walk away.
