They're both good. I would choose the Club Car, but the EZ Go is ok. Avoid Yamahas.

We have 4 year old EZ Go RXV with electronic braking. We have replaced probably 60 front ends ($15,000 ) in Euros as compared to our prior fleet of Club Car gas which had ZERO front ends replaced. I think they have modified it slightly but I would go for Club Car, much sturdier machine.

While I have seen issues with both the club car is built better. I would steer clear of the EZ Go with the electric brakes as I have seen many issues with them that can be costly.

Best advice is get brochures of the carts you are looking at then do a search on google about that model. you will be amazed at how info is out there from golf courses to retirement villages. Did that for an issue on one of my members RXV and was amazed at what I had found out. you will find the best info in the forums of these sites.

Club Car is far superior and can handle a lot of abuse.

From my stand point as mechanic I prefer the Club Car carts. With club car you receive a CDM to make checking rotation of the carts much easier so if you are leasing you can show that carts were rotated and maintained within specs. Also you can use the CDM if the pro shop things that someone played 18 but only paid for 9 holes by checking how much the carts batteries drew down since last charge. The next thing is the IQDM which is a handheld computer for diagnostics made troubleshooting systems much easier, plug in the IQDM and run the test and it gives you the answers.

what model of Club Cars are we talking about? My last fleet of Precedence where the most problematic I've had and where all plastic which in my mine speaks for itself.

We've had Club Car Precedent electrics since 2007 and have not satisfied a 4 year/ 36 month roll out lease yet. The batteries last about 18 months and then they decide that is it. We have one of the best rotations on our carts as any club that our service rep deals with. The good news is after a lot of fighting with Club Car and a lot of dead carts per day, Club Car will just redo the lease and bring us new carts every 2 years. The bad news is our lease has gone up about $30 per cart since we started with them. In that case we are upside down in the lease the day the new one begins and we have repeated this process until now. We are in the same boat with this batch of 2013's and I now will not allow them to swap out the carts and start a new lease. They will replace the batteries on these carts under contract, that they have to provide me working carts for the period of 4 years, and my lease payment on the next fleet, in June of 2017, better go down significantly.

We were fortunate to just replace our entire care fleet with new Clubcar Precedents with the EFI engines. Boy they are fast! I see some issues in our future maybe with that but we will see what happens. Our old fleet that was replaced was also Clubcar Precedents. We had so much trouble with them..Recalls, starter generator issues and an array of electrical issues. I still like Clubcar though. These new ones seem built better, I will try to stay optimistic.

    Hi Dan,

After having Club Car carts for 17 years we just got rid of our Club Car Precedents last fall after sinking $15K into replacing all new wires with leads about half of the batteries just to keep them on the course last year. EZ-Go made us a deal to get out of our last year of the lease to get them off the property.

I now know more about #6 marine grade wire, tin coated copper lugs, and adhesive heat shrink vinyl than I ever thought I would ever need to know.

Unless they get the battery issue solved or you get a guarantee that they will replace the wires and batteries I have to go with EZ Go.

Club Car DS gas cart hands down best for any number of reasons.

precedents are junk and will nickel and dime you with tires, batteries, body parts, light duty front suspension, and the list goes on and on, however like I said the club car DS is a far superior cart.
