    Hi Everyone,

I wanted to see if anyone has used CIVITAS' products and if so what have the results been? Any type of feedback would be great!

    Thanks!

I hate to be a shameless self promoter, but, it makes more sense for me to put up this link to my blog which highlights my Civitas program from 2012. Syngenta is the distributor of Civitas in Canada and this exact document was written for them. Should you have any further questions you can email me: andrew@pheasantrungolf.com

    Here's the link,

Nice blog Andrew....but I am a little concerned about the " my mother and now my wife " quote. You may be in the boonies, but this ain't Arkansas

Yikes, I shall strike that from the record. BTW I will be making a trip down there as soon as my spraying is done in a couple of weeks. You have been forewarned.

We have used Civitas the past two seasons here and I have been unimpressed with the results. We went out with a split app of 2.5G/A every two weeks on our bentgrass fairways (16:1 Harmonizer ratio). Aside from the green color from the Harmonizer and the initial flush of "lushness" for the few days following we still encountered insect and dollar spot pressure that the Civitas never seemed to remedy or reduce. For the almost $20k a year we spent on it I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, but to each their own. I believe you can purchase it already mixed now, but it was a mess mixing if you spilled any since it is a "horticultural oil". The USGA rep up here didn't recommend it either and stated that he thought "that fad had ended" so take that for what it's worth.

We tried it on a couple fairways as a stand alone through the 2009 season and had decent results except for a little puffiness and subsequent scalping but it was also a relatively easy year (low disease pressure, mild temps, adequate rain, etc.) especially in light of the last 3. We have also tank mixed it with our snow mold app and had outstanding results.

I have been using civitas for 2 seasons now, and have been very impressed. This previous summer, I sprayed it religiously every 3 weeks on my fairways with PGR, fert, and some iron (in ND with upper midwest climate, bluegrass/poa fairways). No other fungicides. Never even saw a hint of dollar spot, which is really my only threat on the fairways in the summer unless we get a week or two nasty enough for pythium, which is rare. My experience does seem to show that it will cause some additional lushness and leaf blade thickening on greens, so I have cut that it out of my program on greens. I am also using it this fall, in combination with some other products, for snow mold control across the entire golf course. I did the same last fall and without a doubt saw faster dormancy break in the spring.

I just put it out last week at 11 oz./m on my greens following a late season aerification because of the growth spurt that follows and it didn't disappoint. I used it twice in the spring as well in my rotation but was leery of applying in the summer.
