I am looking to put brushes on my walking greens mowers this winter. I know there are several companies out there that sell brushes. What types are you guys using? Has anyone made theirs from scratch? Please attach photos if you have. I have new flex 2100 toro walkers. Thanks for the input.

Our asst. equipment technician made ours out of 3/8" round bar, Home Depot plastic brushes and some fittings from McMaster Carr. We have to beef them up over the winter but I am really happy with them. Email me and I can send you some pics of how our guy made them.

Greg, how easily are they to adjust? Or do you have one set of mowers with brushes and a second set without?

Hey to go along with this I was planning on doing the same Jeff, except for my Tri Plex. Has anyone done this???
I would like to make them from scratch. If you have done this let me know and if you could send me some instructions.

Sounds like everyone is talking about drop-down brushes that ride/operate out in front of the mower. The natural product brushes do not hold up very well, maybe consider using one with plastic/artificial bristles. You may find that you may want/need different brushes throughout the year; stiffer ones during the spring and fall and softer ones during the summer or more stressful periods?? Instead of changing the brushes or having two sets, use different weights on top of the brushes. You can use 1" or 1 1/2" PVC pipe filled with lead shot or sand to be more/less aggressive with the brushes. From experience, a brush with no weight has a tendency to bounce or ride up on one side or the other. A small cable or mono can be attached to the basket so that when the mower is raised at the end of a mow line, the brush also raises.

    Happy holidays.
