I am in the planning stage of having to replace 3 golf cart bridges - each measuring approx. 14' x 175'.
The current bridges are made out of 3"x8" .60 CCA Pressure Treated Southern Yellow Pine Rough Sawn. They are only 9 years old but are heavily splintered and damaged. Over the years there has been a Hotel and a course renovation where these bridges saw a lot of heavy traffic. Also, there was no program in place to annually clean & seal the decking.
I have considered the option of just flipping the boards - but the contractor I use (& trust) has advised against it due to the condition of the wood. But it's not been completely ruled out.
So my question is - do I replace with the same material? Obviously cost is a big factor & I must do what is most economical but it also must hold up over time. If I stay with the same material will annually sealing it make it last?
Any thoughts or recommendations would be greatly appreciated - Thanks
