Does any spray their Barricade application in front of play and not worry about traffic? This application would be for an overseed situation on 419 Bermuda. Thanks.

If not completely dry it can make for yellow shoes. Ricky Fowler might like it but paying customers tend to object. Once it is watered in and dries it is attached to the soil and won't move.

How many of you are using Barriacde for per emergent control of crabgrass on fairways and or tees? I have always used Dimension in the past but looking to switch to save a few dollars. We mow our poa bent fairways at .5". Do you see any negatives as it relates to the poa? Looking at applying at the 1lb/a rate in the spring. Any advice or comments would be appericated.

    Thanks in advance,

    Mike

    Mike,

I do not believe Barricade is labeled for Bent/Poa. Too harsh

Barricade is OK on bent at fairway height, .500" or above. The label does say to avoid greens and where poa is a desirable species.

Thanks for the reply. That acclaim program is interesting, how is working out for them?

Have you seen any root pruning or other undesirable effects from the application?

I've used Barricade(prodiamine) for the last 10 plus seasons on bent/poa freeways mowed at .500". I use the 1 lb/ acre rate in the fall. No problems.

I prefer the fall for a few reasons, 1. my fairways don't care for hollow core aeration when they are too dry and I tend to pull turf and clumps of soil up, so I can skip the mediocre areas that have been repaired. 2. My course has the ability to flood, thus I like the ability to control weed seeds in the fall and not have to worry about them in the spring when it's to wet to get out and spray. 3. Spray in the fall and forget about it all winter, no timing issues.

If I have any break through, I use Drive at the half rate and smoke the crab and broadleaf right out. I know a few supers who are playing around with using Acclaim at 3.5oz/acre rate on bent monthly around here.

    Good luck.
