Is there a program or is anyone aware of anyone that runs a seasonal Mechanic Training. I am from the North and during the Winter I have heard of some assistants going south to help on other courses. Would it be valuable to send an assistant on a month or two mechanic training internship at another facility during the winter time? Just food for thought.

Let me clarify Steve, I am an assistant and was wondering if anyone hosts programs like this. Paid or unpaid I think mechanical skills right now are very valuable to have.

I for one would be glad to OJT an interested Asst. I would bet with some networking you could arrange just the shop/course you'd be interested in. Valuable knowledge will be the result and what the heck, we all can use a hand now and then.

I think it's a really good idea and if I had a budget for it, I would hire you in a minute.
