    Don't bother with the Dawn
Get on a quicksilver spray program and stick to it. If cost is an issue but time is not or you just have a small amount of moss you can purchase a weed wand from Standard. Walk your greens and treat only the moss patches, an 8oz. bottle will go a very long way.
    good luck

I agree with the quicksilver program. We have been using it for several years now when moss becomes an issue and it has been effective. You just have to stay consistent with applications. You may see some discoloration if you spray the entire green, so we usually mix in some iron. Good luck.

Moss Buster works well, used in spray bottle at previous course.

I have had the best results using Quicksilver late in the fall with high rates of an surfactant. I have also raised my nitrogen levels and have seen a reduction of moss but not totally wiped out with this program.

I will vouch for the quicksilver program working. I started it at the last course I was at and after looking at the greens this year I would say it was a success. I started the same program here at my current course and have seen some improvement. The new word on the street for me is adding chlorothalonil to the tank. I have yet to try this tank mix but am curious if any of you have? If so, please share your thoughts on the extra cost having any true results.

The QuickSilver Program definitely works! At my previous course (Ames, Iowa) the moss was on every single green, a lot of the spots were larger than a cup cutter. What we did was 3 of the heavy 6.7 oz + Spreader Sticker right after fall aerification on 7 day intervals and pushed heavy with organic fertilizers (1.5 lb/N/M). The following spring we started spraying QS every 2 weeks at 1 or 2 oz/a and were completely moss free (visible levels). Unfortunately the big issue is you will always have an abundance of moss spores throughout your green... with that in mind I kept the program the 2nd and 3rd year and hopefully the new superintendent is staying on the same program. Hope this helps!

PS - We also did Daconil Action / WeatherStick at 3oz/M every 2 weeks starting May through August.

I have used ZeroTol on the greens and got rid of all the algae and moss. It also controls other diseases. Used it on greens a few times a year for 2 years and did not have to use it any longer.

I use a homemade mix of Junction because we don't have Junction or Quicksilver available.

    4 oz Junction per 1000
    43,56 M per acre
    174 oz per acre
    2,47 ac per hectare
    4941,6 g per acre
    ,46 Copper hydroxide
    ,15 mancozeb
    2273 g per acre Cu(OH)2
    741 g per acre Mancozeb
    ,75 Mancozeb A.I.
    988 g per acre A.I. Manczeb
    5615 g per hectare Cu(OH)2
    2441 g per hectare Mancozeb

So in plain English USA 5 lbs per acre Copper Hydroxide plus 2 lbs per acre Mancozeb
Metric 5.6 kilos per hectare Copper Hydroxide plus 2.4 kgs/hec Mancozeb

The copper hydroxide is 50% Cu by weight

    Saludos Michael

At a previous course, we used Quicksilver for moss control regularly until one application in the fall when we had severe discoloration. A frost which occurred 4 days post application caused the cell walls to explode. As you can imagine it was very ugly. After seeing this I vowed to never use Quicksilver again as I feared the worst will happened again. Upon research, I found that if you apply 4oz/M of Chlorothalonil, 4oz/M of Mancozeb, and 4oz/M of Thiram, you get effective control of moss. If there is a severe moss problem, several apps may be needed. I also like that this app provides good disease control and no worry of discoloration

If you want something that truely works use the QuickSilver like others recommended and dont mess with the witches brew of various fungicides, and the other stuff. Don~t apply with temps over 80 and stay away from plant shut down close to frost times.
