For those of you that melt down AMS, how long do you think a tenth of a pound of N lasts? I'm incorporating into my program this season and I'm looking for some base lines. Any help or advise would be appreciated. Thanks!

My experience has seen it last 7 to 10 days tops dependent on the rate its applied. Because AS must be watered in the growth potential of the product is shortened greatly.

I use as the base of our program on greens at anywhere from .1 to .125# N per 1000 every two weeks and only water it in very early the next morning after application. I've only seen tip burn when I pushed it to .2# N.

I've seen that I can spray .1 lbs/n/m in 1 gallon/1000 and .2 in 2 gallons of water without any tip burn. I don't know for sure how high up that equation can go before problems start but those two are safe,

I am looking for the proper way to figure the amount of ammonium sulfate I need to use to get .1 to .125 lb of n/1000. I want to take granular A.S. and convert it to a liquid so that I can apply it as a foliar.

    Thanks,
    Charlie B.

    Charlie,

    To apply .125# N per/1000 you need .6 #'s Ammonium sulfate/ 1000 as it is 21% N.

Then pick a rate of how much water you want to spray per 1000. Say you want to spray at 1 gallon per 1000. You would then need to add .6 pounds Am sulfate per one gallon of water. You would then add 60 pounds ammonium sulfate to 100 gallons of water if you want to spray 100,000 square feet of greens.

    Hope that helps

Desired rate divided by % product multiplied by square feet in 1000's.

    So...

    .125#N/m / .21 x 43.56 = 25.92# Ammonium Sulfate per acre.

    Check the math....

    25.92# / 43.56 = .6#/1000sqft x .21 = .125#N/m

100 divided by the analysis times the desired rate. example
    21-0-0 I want .10lb/N
100 divided by 21 times .1 equals .476 lbs of product per 1000 sq ft.

    12-24-12, and i want .5lb/P per 1000
    100 divided by 24 times .5
