I am wondering who uses which and why would you use one over the other. This will be used in my rough mixture of KBG, Rye. Should I use a methylated seed oil or a 21-0-0 adjuvant? Is there anything else you guys recommend for post control of crab?

    Jeremy,

Due to the cost I use acclaim only on bentgrass...or if you have goose grass.

Drive is labeled 1/2 rate for bent but Greta for crab and broad leaves...no goose control.

Solitaire is good, price is good considering it controls most summer weeds, sedge, crab, but never really takes out the goose.

I think Acclaim will only work for goose if its young. And it may need a couple of applications. But dont quote me on that. Right now, my fairways that are usually covered are clean. I sprayed them with MSMA last year and applied Ronstar this year. No herbicide on fairways yet. Tees are also clean. However, with those, in addition to Ronstar, they have been sprayed with an application of solitare.

If your goose problem is as bad as mine is, try anything, in small amounts in different areas. The first couple of years, I had a whole bunch of different things going on at different fairways in order to prevent goose grass.

Pylex works great on goose at very low rates (.1-.2oz/A). If can't take bleaching, can be reduced with addition of Triclopyr at low rates or Quicksilver I'm told at 1oz/A.
