I need to spray out some goose and crabgrass in hybrid Bermuda grass fairways mowed at 1". Would like to go with MSMA at 1oz./M. Probably split appl. 10 to 14 days apart. I know I will get some yellowing but any possibility of actual injury due to temps. around 92-94 degrees? Thanks for any information given.

If I could do that I would still have a job!

I don't believe you can broadcast MSMA on golf courses any more. Check out turf.uark.edu FSA6145 It's got the new reg. They might have extended the time frame on it but it was to end in 2013.

    Good Luck

Hello Terry, label says it is ok but not to apply over 25% of the courses yardage. Not doing all the fairways, will be using some Revolver also. No worry about the heat, still not spraying it above 92-93*. Thinking about only using .5 oz/M MSMA on about a 1/4 to 1/2 A to see what kind of results I'll get. Went down with a full appl. of Dimension two weeks ago to take care of any small plants. Thinking about using Primo to halt the growth of the crab. One good thing about my pre-emerge not holding is now I won't have to pre for poa. in Aug., just make a late appl. in Oct. Hope everyone is in better shape than I find myself right now.

regarding your mixture I think you will be fine. I mixed it with (I believe) sulfentrazone and used it to take out Kylinga and Bahia last week. No ill effects to Bermuda. It was Blade or Manor or one of those

Thanks Mr. Storie, going out with it in a day or two. Probably do a par 3 at the 9-hole course before I do anything at the 18-hole. Working with 5 full time and 2 part time for both courses. Having to syringe greens now until 6 in the evening. Told to hold overtime down. Turning the fairways yellow for a while will take some of the mowing out of the picture for a while anyway. Hope you have a good day and rest of the season.

A lot of us old timers remember when MSMA was all we had. The secret to that stuff was plenty of water. See if you can get the rate up to about 1gal/M. Good luck. Kenneth Ingram, UMD

Thank you and your right Mr. Ingram. Old timers eh, I guess so, been doing this since '78 now. I can remember turning the crabgrass black within a couple of hrs. and you could smell it 3-4 fairways over. Those were the days.
Thank you again, appreciate the post and you have a good remainder of the season.
