I am looking for a leaf blower to mount on the tractor. I think that my tractor is a 35 hp tractor but would buying a blower for a 45 hp tractor be the wrong thing to do. I really don't know if using a higher powered blower with an under powered tractor would cause problems.

It's best to stay with the manufactures ratings. A larger blower will add mower stress to an under powered tractor. This can cause clutches to go out quicker, added stress to bearings and shafts and get expensive very fast. Stick with what they recommend and you wont go wrong.

When looking at tractor blowers, the HP rating will be PTO hp of the tractor not Engine hp. They will be different.

On John Deere tractors you can typically figure about 10 to 13 hp less at PTO than what the Engine is rated at. We run a number of 5045E Tractors and Engine is rated @ 48hp and PTO rated @ 36.6 make an 11.4hp difference.

Our 5083's are rated @82hp with PTO rated @ 69hp, a 13hp difference. So you can generally figure 10 to 15hp less at the PTO to be safe. Our smaller 3032 run @ 31.1HP and PTO 25hp so a 6.1 difference, just a little less. As always you can look up pretty much any specs on the web too. Be safe and run with the recommended or higher PTO rating on the tractor side for powering your implements.
