15" cups Cancel The title field is required!

   We have had 8" cup events for over 25 years and find them easy to put in and take out. We have a long time outing that wants to buy their own 15" cups and cutter and have a "bigger cup". They were the group that hand-made our 8" cups 25 years ago but feel they have lost their exclusivity because we have 3 or 4 other big cups a year.
   
   How hard is it to remove a 15" plug without it falling apart? They 8" pull a little bit by the roots but normally come right out. I am worried the 15" wont break off at the roots and we will end up destroying the plug in the process.

   I had a 12 inch cutter at one facility. It was mainly used for temp greens. We had one event per year on the greens. Cut down about two inches. If careful the plug stayed intact. We would put in on a piece of plywood and that really helped. Poa greens so cutting roots were no problem. Cut a regular cup in center and sloped the 12 inch a little so the ball would roll in it. Sure its a pain but gave them what they want.

   We did 3 tournaments where we used the 15" cups. Pulling the plug wasn't the hard part, putting it back in correctly is where we started to run into issues - collapsing sides, and low/hi portions were frequent. We also used the plywood method to help eliminate some of the degradation of the plug - as you'd imagine, 15" plugs @ 2"+/- weigh quite a bit.
