What kind of year are we all going to have if Tiger continues to complain about bumpy greens? How many superintendents are going to get blamed for his poor putting stroke this season? It sure doesn't do our industry any good if the former #1 player is complaining about bumpy greens every week on television. I am glad he isn't a member at my club. One of my new board members is a huge Tiger fan, I'm screwed.

He's putting over the same "bumpy" greens that everyone else is. "Tiger? Shut up!"

How far out of touch can a guy be when he is playing on the Monterey Peninsula for a living and he's whining?

Doesn't help to have three full days of play at each course (Thursday - Saturday) will a full field of amateurs playing as well. Lots of conttinuous wear and tear on the the greens for three days with the typical cool and damp weather showing up.

Maybe GCSAA needs to get with the PGA Tour to set up a press conference for the superintendent of the host course. This will be a way for us to answer question of the media and the players. It is time for us to quit being thought of as hard working blue collars and be thought of as true hard working professionals. It is funny how the golfer will listen to the pro about course conditions before allowing the super to represent the course.

Funny you mention that Jeff. Just this morning I was standing behind the counter at the Pro Shop Talking to the Pro and a customer checking in looks right at me, then my name tag, then looks at the Pro and says, "how's the course conditions?" The Pro laughs, looks at me...I shrug my shoulders and shake my head, looks back at the customer and tells him, "course is in great condition." We had a good chuckle after he walked out.

There's not much more that gets under my skin than golfers with ridiculous complaints. One of the worst offenders over the years has been Lee Janzen because his criticisms have always been subjective to him. I don't have a problem with legit complaints. Are the greens at PB bumpy? Probably. Did Tiger suggest the super was responsible for the bumpy greens? Probably not. If he did then Tiger deserves to be hammered. But my guess is Tiger was merely making a statement of fact. Poa is notoriously bumpy and PB is notorious for it's Poa greens. It's the circle of life at PB and there's nothing wrong with statements of fact.

I don't know sometimes a statement of fact is whining. When you drive around with your wife and she's saying, "it's too hot", "it's too cold", "the traffic is horrible.", "Watch where you are going!!", that is still whining, no?

That was so good...and so appropriate for the weekend with Bill Murray playing at PB. Did you catch his camo get-up yesterday?

Yeah, I get what you're saying. I just think too many people take golfer's comments too personal when that wasn't the intent by the golfer. As for your wife's whining, you should call for a full-all-out investigation/opportunity to air your rebuttal via the Husbands Association of America, HAA.

Jim Nantz did mention how hard the superintendents work at making everything so nice for the tour, or something similar to that, (I was half listening while working on something).

Tiger has always complained about the greens at Pebble, whether he was winning or losing, I don't make a big deal of it, and Phil made some long putts, so they couldn't have been that bad. I think Tiger needs to go back to his Scotty and dump his Nike putter (unless he has done that?) and I love all my Nike equipment, but I don't have a Nike putter either. It just seems that he putted better with his Scotty.

Lefty shot a 64 on Sunday to win- so much for the bumpy greens whining. The only thing bumpy is Tiger's career. But as someone else noted, it's not the first time he's complained about the greens at Pebble, he also hates the pro am and usually won't play there. So at this stage of his career, after all that has happened,he makes excuses again while someone else goes low to whip him, is anybody listening to Tiger anymore?

Phil seem to handle putts of every distance quite fine on Sunday. I think making that 30 foot down hill putt after Tiger sunk the bunker shot spoke loudly enough for the quality of the greens. Tiger can't blame bumpy Poa for the putts he missed. He simply hit bad putts!

I agree with poorly struck putts the footage of his misses at end of tourney clearly shows he shanked the putts from the start. Vermont, ready for spring...

Mel not sure Scotty W has time to be Tigers putter all the time........that's why he is using Nike.

As someone else put it so succinctly....."DUH!"

To complain about losing a tournament, or losing on a local goat track......EVERYONE is playing with the SAME conditions. If Tiger, or anyone else, cannot figure out how to judge a putt.....downhill, uphill, around stumps, through piles of mulch, through the bobbing dinosaur's mouth, or even through a windmill, then they might try and remember that a fellow golfer successfully navigated these same obstacles. Okay, granted....this isn't Goofy Golf, but they ARE the same conditions! Suck it up and STOP whining! Please.

Actually, while watching the last few holes of the telecast the announcers all seemed to be very clear that Tiger has more problems with his game right now than he can blame on the greens. I keep hearing his game is... oh so close.. yet he continues to struggle at some point during every event. I can't believe the short putts he missed yesterday and it sure didn't look like any of them were bouncing around the greens.

Thanks to Jim Nantz and the CBS folks for continuing to mention the great work of the superintendents at each venue during their telecasts. All three of the courses in the rotation seemed to play well this week from everything I saw.

Many years ago I hosted a State PGA event. The Pro that won the event raved about course conditions and the way the greens putted. One of the local pro's, who did not play well, sent me an e-mail blasting course conditions. Greens were slow and inconsistent and pin placements were terrible. It's all relative

I volunteered at a PGA Championship not to long ago. While raking bunkers as the sun came up, Appleby approached the green. We didn't see him so he must not of saw us and he landed about 10yd away. Well we all stopped raking to let him put and he missed a 12 footer three times in a row. He looked at me frustrated and asked "what is wrong, what am I doing wrong". I told him he missed the put all 3 times to left by 2 inches and that maybe he should aim more right 2 inches. He rolled his eyes at me, so I added "why ask me then, you are the pro". I later saw him in the day just complaining about the course to his caddie.

Heard a comment yesterday concerning Tiger during the match play championship. He is having trouble reading the greens.............aren't these golf courses the same ones he plays each and every year? Perhaps a trip to Eye Masters might be in his future. You would have thought he and Watney were the only two playing......good thing he didn't win.

Is it that Po-Anna that's all bumpy down there? Huh. Why don't they change it to bentgrass?
