Since the SEC gets all the heat for being the "cheaters" its nice to see the Big 10 or 12 or whatever they are step up to the plate with 'workoutgate" (Iowa), "practicegate" (Michigan), and now 'tatoo/used cargate" (OSU)..........the best quote of the entire fiasco is Gene Smith..."we hope he returns to The Ohio State University to finish his degree"....gimma a break Gene............Terrelle can't spell degree

Iowa's "workout-gate" as you call it hardly compares to "practice-gate" or "tattoo-car-money-whatever you want-gate. No NCAA violations at Iowa over hard workouts. Ferentz has way more class and brains than to let what happened at Ohio State happen at Iowa. What has happened at OSU is an embarrassment to the Big Ten and college football. We all knew last year that the chances of Pryor ever playing again this year was a long shot, but OSU and the NCAA let it happen. I wonder what happened to Pryor's word that he would return and play this year. Just shows what kind of clown this guy is. I heard a pro scout say "you can't teach 6'6 260" but you also cannot teach morals and values. I hope the NFL team that drafts Pryor gets the same result as OSU got out of him....embarrassment, guilt and shame on their team.

Rick you're correct.........no NCAA sanctions............just what a dozen players in the hospital? You're right, its not the same thing. The violations go on everywhere........not limited to the southeastern portion of the US. Don't be so touchy feely.

Sorry I got all "touchy feely" on you David, but when you lump Iowa and their hard workouts in with Michigan and OSU and all their NCAA violations I have to call you on it. Iowa and the NCAA found no violations so no sanctions were required. And I do agree that violations go on everywhere, its just that some conferences seem to have some pretty major ones occur often.

    Rick,
You can teach morals and values but obviously it is something that was missed when he was growing up.

I can't help but wonder if we will ever see the end of this type of student/athlete. I went to high school with a kid named Jimmy Smith, One of the best high school running backs to ever play. Barry Switzer had his own office in my high school. Every major college in the country was recruiting him. The kid couldn't recite the 12 months of the year in correct order. He drove a red camero with Oklahoma plates for awhile his senior year.

He ended up going to Purdue and got kicked out his first year for selling drugs. He ended up at a junior college and then a small school in Tennessee. He was an early round draft pick for the Washington Redskins and retuned a kickoff for a touchdown in the first game he played in. Then they cut him. Drug addiction and they said he couldn't read well enough to figure out plays. I believe that he is dead now.

That was over 30 years ago and with all the rule changes and reform by the NCAA, the same stuff is still happening. I think you have to clean house when this happens. When AD's and college presdients start losing their jobs this might start to go away.
