My only baseball prediction is the Padres will not lose 162 games this year. It might be tight but they will win around 60 games at the most!

I like it, Braves in 7. Been a long time since the Bravos have had an offense like this, hopefully they can cut down on strikeouts.

This is the year! Bravos got a great team. Need to keep injuries down and well go deep!

strikeouts is always an issue with them but at least they're swinging. If they can somehow figure out how to hit left-handed pitching they would be practically unbeatable. They were dominated by Cliff Lee again last night. I think this is the year though. Been a long time since '95

Kansas City showed much promise in Spring Training again, but fell flat against of all teams, the Chicago White Sox, someone they owned last year. I don't think Yost knows how to manage a proper game, he is fine in spring training when everyone knows they get x number of pitches or innings or so many at bats.

I think it will be the Giants again with the Nationals giving them a good run. The American league could be Texas as the get to beat up on the Astros a bunch of times, although that might not make them playoff ready, could be the Tigers if their new closer comes through. Tampa Bay might make a run in the bunched up East when they call up former Royal farm hand Wil Myers. Baltimore seems pretty solid, would make for a cool world series with Washington and Baltimore.

I will quit making baseball forecast now that my prediction rate is 100%. The Padres will not lose 162 games since they won yesterday!

I predict a long boring season. Can they just par it down to 16 games or so? Sports Center is unbearable with highlights of games that have 1/162 worth of meaning.

Never could get interested in a sport that uses pajamas for uniforms. :D

I predict I will not watch a single game of that boring sport. Why do the coaches wear uniforms anyway?

Don't look now Mel but your boys got a half game lead in the Central. One thing is for sure - that division, aside from the Tigers, is less than impressive. I actually wouldn't be suprised to see them do pretty well this year especially in that division. They got a ton of young talent. So far Santana has been dealing and if he can find his form from a few years ago they could be really tough - that would be a pretty solid top 3. You can bet that they - and everyone else for that matter - will do pretty well against my Tribe and their, at best, questionable rotation.

Matt, the only way to beat the tribe is make them keep the ball in the yard. Had the split earlier this week. Shields is pitching good, so I guess the Myers trade is working, and Santana is pitching great, Guthrie is doing well too. Davis started of good but has faltered and Mendoza in the 5th spot hasn't performed well either, but his starts haven't been consistent with the weather. Hoch and Chen have been pretty impressive in the pen, maybe they could be put into the starting rotation again if Davis and Mendoza don't step it up. Crow had been great, Holland scares me as the closer, I wonder if we don't see Crow in that role before the season is done. At least Moose and Hosimer are starting to hit.

I think I am getting ready to have a heart attack. My Padres have the best record in baseball over the past two weeks! 11 wins in their last 14 games. I know the Dodgers are again underachieving and the Marlins beyond stink but 11 out of 14 is still better than I would have ever imagined. Break that team up! They are too good!

I'm a gambler and put down $20 for the Padres to win the NL West, $10 for the first round playoffs, $5 for the NLCS and for the world Series. Big money if they go all the way. Did this before the season. This Padre squad did have one of the best records in the second half last year.

Is that Cuban kid that threw like 105 mph still on the Reds roster? He was a sensation the first season when he came up late but struggled to some extent last year. Is he still the closer and how is he doing?

I believe Adrolis Chapman is who you're thinking of. I think he still hits 99 mph but 105 is a stretch. He is the closer for the Reds and struggled a little bit recently blowing two saves in a row. he throws hard but he's wild.

That is the kid I was asking about. I think he was recorded at 103 in his first season. I remember him pitching against Anthony Gwynn (Tony's kid) and hitting 103. Gwynn actually got a hit off of him. I thought I heard he also tends to throw a flat pitch with his fastball or very little movement.

I have him on my fantasy team, and he blew two in a row. Earlier this season I have the closer from Atlanta who blew two in a row also, and I have Holland from KC who blew two in a row early in the season.

Mel, you are not paying your closers enough! You know they would try harder if only you would pay them more! They just won't work for free!

I'm taking my cues from the Royals owner, David Glass, a former Walmart executive.

of course now I have to revise my predictions to include the playoffs.
Pittsburg over St Louis in 4
    Atlanta over LA in 5
Tampa Bay over Cleveland>...Boston over Tampa Bay in 4
    Detroit over Oakland in 3
    Atlanta over Pittsburg in 5
    Detroit over Boston in 7
Still going with the Braves. Braves in 7 over Detroit
    WS MVP - Evan Gattis

In the process, the Braves will set a postseason record for strikeouts (hitting) but still pull out a win.

How about those Dodgers in beating the Atlanta Braves. LA is my predictaion for taking the NL. Hopefully Oakland will pull it off and it will be a California World Series.
