We are using the toro 5200 prosweep to pick up aerifying cores. We have used it for 5 years. We changed the brush 4 years ago only using it 2 times each year on 20 greens. The brush does not look like it is worn too bad but we are having major issues picking up cores. The roller adjustment is set as low as it can and still not pick up. The cores are dry too. Any ideas.

    Thanks.

Have you checked the brush rotation?

I was going to say brush rotational directional, caused by hydraulic hoses on wrong fitting. Or try adjusting the brushes down closer to the turf.

    Guys thanks for the suggestions
We did lower the roller, it is as far down or actually up as it will go to be as close to the turf as we can. The rotation of the brush is also correct.

We usually have to wait for 2 hours after the green has been aerified before we can pick up the cores if they have any moisture in them at all we have trouble getting them to pick up.

From what I remember, you have to have high-flow hydraulics on your Workman for this to work. I might be wrong though. Are you using the same Workman as before?

We use a John Deere 2030 4wd pro gator.

Does that Pro Gator have the high flow hydraulics? Like Andy mentioned, you need high flow for that to work and if you changed gators, one could have high output and the other not equipped with it.

While at Lakewood in New Orleans we used the workman to pull the pro-sweep. the guy driving it burnt the clutch out trying to go slow enough for it to work. Put it on the back of a kabota tractor and WOW! worked like a charm.
    Hope this helps

Exact same issue here, pulling behind a 4300 with High flow kit. I've made my own conclusion that it must be the lack of hyd pressure that's the culprit. Haven't had it tested but have an aging workman that I suspect is to blame.

Same problem here. We replaced the entire brush assembly and when we tore the old one apart the plastic cylinder that the brushes are mounted to, was showing extreme wear inside. The new assembly is working great, better then ever actually. I figure if we have to replace that every 2-3 years it is well worth it. We use it for sweeping cores off of fairways at a 36 hole operation we wear it down a little faster then everyone else.

We only used it behind a Kubota L3830 and it worked great whether the cores were moist or not.
