    Previous mechanic ordered dry lapping compound and i;m wanting to use it,what do i mix with it so it can be used?

    Not sure . I’d assume just water

    I mixed my compound years ago and I use water and dish soap. worked very well just make it a creamy texture. just do small batches enough to do what you want to lap in. Hope this helps.

    Straight water doesnt work,i'll try the soap mix.Thanks for the replys.

    Check the label on a couple of premixed brands. Probably some type of silicon gel. Try some wetting agent. I had an old mechanic that used to use kerosene until we started getting an oil slick on a nearby pond. Kenneth Ingram, UMD

    It's been so many years but as I remember I used hydraulic oil. It made a nice creamy mixture.

    Its been years but we used motor oil and soap
