Usually I'll use a shop press, the bearings are just pressed in. There's 2 different style shafts, one is collared and one has roll pins where the bearing stops. Both styles will come out the same. By the looks of the shaft you may need to replace the shaft along with the bearing and seals. If it has a groove in the shaft the new bearing won't last long. Price the shaft, bearings and seal, might be close to the price of the roller.

On the old GKIV's we would knock the shaft loose and then use the shaft to bang out the bearings (if I remember correctly, I was usually assigned the reels to break apart and then sent to the office to do paperwork). Back in those days we would usually replace about 3 full rollers and rebuild all the others replacing shafts when needed. The outside of our rollers would get banged up pretty good too.

Several years ago I started using Golfco rollers, Seattle WA. They are steel with a Urethane cover so often times brushes are not required. What I like the most is that bearing replacement is simple and can be accomplished in a few minutes. They are not cheep but the time saved in maintenance I think pays.

When working on equipment in the shop during the winter I seem to get stuck with roller repair. I think I have worked on most styles of rollers over my 30 years in the industry. I think the Golfco rollers are the best I have seen.
