Has anyone had to replace the back axle particularly on the right rear from being sheared off right at the wheel? Have gone through 2 now and trying to determine if it is an operator issue or a weak part of the mower. 4000 is 6 years old with about 3700 hours on it.
    Thanks for any input.
    Randy

We had two that were 8 years old with around 5200 hours on them and never had any issue like that and I've been around a lot of these mowers when I worked for Toro as a mobile tech and never saw any issue like that. I have seen seals on the rear axle leak and if not caught they run dry destroying gears and bearings.

Had the exact thing happen to our Toro 4000 last season. About the same age as yours.

We have had to replace gears 3 times on the rear right axle due to bearings failing. Twice the damage was bad enough the entire housing was replaced.
    Great machine otherwise.
