Anyone else having cutting issues with Toro 5410/5210 Fairway Units --- Model Year 2010-Present?

We are having issues with a hazing, and almost what looks like a skip in the cut. All setup and cut has been checked several times.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

    Ross,

My 5510 does the same thing. It is actually, the tires on the machine making the marks. The gofers don't notice at my club, but I sure do. Don't really know what to do about it though. A tire switch might do it.

Toro has a different roller configuration for their 5410 units. It consist of two narrow rollers for the rear cutting heads, and roller inserts for the front rollers. This helps where the rear units will roll the turf down with the front rollers so the turf only gets cut once instead of a double cut, and the rear narrow roller make it so it only gets rolled once. This all helps in eliminating the small over-lap lines and ugly after cut appearance. Also I like to run the extended cut knives and about 6 to 8 degrees of bedknife attitude. Make sure your tire pressure is spot on and double check your ground speed with your HOC to clip rate as this can make a huge difference too.

Scroll down to page 7. If you can find the May08 issue there is a ton in there as well. Part one of the series. It has to do with the settings these mowers have outside of the reel setup itself. Very good stuff IMO.

Here is a webcast that Toro did on Aftercut Appearance that covers the 5410. https://igcema.adobeconnect.com/_a95516 ... ode=normal
This should help give you some ideas on what to check and look for. I would try to change only one thing at a time so that you can see what makes the difference. If you change everything at once, if it ever pops up again you won't know what you did to fix it.
