Toro 4700 Sluggish Cancel The title field is required!

   Just turned 3yo 4700 and we are faced with the machine being sluggish, going up any grade slows it down. Rpm on the engine doesn't drop much so we think it's a hydraulic problem. Planateries and axles have been checked for binding or wear. Less than 2000 hours and this problem along with the never ending tier 4 exhaust issues make me doubt the wisdom in getting it even though it cuts great. Feels like you have foot only half way down on the pedal and it struggles to get up hills. On flatter areas we can still use it but it is a little slower. Dealer had a quick look and I'm waiting for tech to show up. Any ideas?

   I do not have a tier 4 machine but have experienced similar in past. Easy solutions for us. Replace hydro filter and replace all fuel filters. May have already done these with no luck.

   Thanks Chris, all filters replaced last week. Feels like there should be more go in the pedal so likely a hyd issue with valving/solenoid we think. Tier 4 engine has been stationary regenerated I think six times now since last September before winter.

   Did you figure this out yet? I happened to see it this morning and remember I had a similar problem. Is your 4700 equipped with a forward speed control lever mounted on the right side of the steering tower? Its easy to overlook. One of our operators inadvertently move it toward a slower speed which caused symptoms much like you're describing

   John, when we got the machine back and it was still not working properly we noticed a high pitched whine like the turbos normally do but this was higher. Well we had a look and under the air cleaner the small hose was loose leaking air. We put it back on and for the last two days all is well.

   We've had a lot of issues with our 4700, mostly in regards to the regen process. You said you have manually regenerated it 6 times and was trying to compare that to ours. When you did the manual regeneration did the icon come up on the display or did it go straight to an engine code saying you missed it essentially locking you out of the system? That's what ours has done and although we have the dealer and even toro themselves looking at it, they haven't found the reason for the problem. In some cases it has been only a few hours after a forced regen has been done until we had the same issue come back. Is that what you're seeing as well?

   Last August we had a problem with power being very low, the operator limped back into shop and we started looking for the meaning of the code that came up on screen. Proprietary so no luck with local guys. A service tech was up in short order to check it out and all work done with a laptop! He did a manual regen and we thought all was well. Happened at least two maybe three times before the end of last season. Service guys were great and they really wanted to get us going. This spring another regen and thankfully it has been fine, no idea why.
   
   The mysterious loss of power recently was due to the hose under the air cleaner going to turbo being loose/off and very difficult to see but the noise gives it away. Put back on and it runs good. Seems like the engine for this machine is ill suited especially from the convenience to service. For example dipstick is incredibly hard to find and maybe harder to replace. Working well now though.
