    All,

We have a Toro 4500 that has began to hesitate during use. It will run fine for about the first hour of the day, then the traction drive will start slowing down intermittently until you finally have to shut the machine down for about 10 minutes or so and then restart and continue on your way. It also definately gets worse as the day goes on. It seems to really get worse when going downhill, and forget about going in reverse, that completely makes it stop. We tore apart the traction drive valves (forward and reverse) behind the seat, and found (and replaced), a few damaged O-rings, but that has not helped the overall problem. We also had the Toro tech out, and he could not figure it out either. We cleaned out the servo as well, and that helped for a little while, but it is right back to doing the same thing. We also tested the pressure throughout the hydrolic system, and everything tested out fine. My feeling is that there is another piece of an O-ring in the servo, but I thought I would also post here to see if anyone has expereinced this annoying problem as well.

    Thanks,

Just a few thoughts in no particular order. This could be difficult since the pressure tests didn't show anything.

Check to make sure the tow valve is completely closed.
Next time you need to let it cool down for the 10 min. break, feel the planetary and brake housings. Are they too hot to touch?
Double check those orings on the traction drive valves.
Since cleaning the servo control valve helped for a short while, it may need to be repaired/replaced. They do fail often enough that our local dealer will stock at least one and it is nearly a $1k part.
