    1 year old, 390 hours.

Out cutting today and mower quits has half a tank of fuel:

mower can be restarted but the decks cannot be lifted, but mower can move
oil pressure light is dimly glowing
oil level to the full line, no leaks of any kind or any fluids

    Take mower to shop

Can get decks up, starts and runs but then quits after variuos lengths, from 2-5 minutes
unhook battery, hope this resets, does not
mower runs at full throttle for 10 minutes then quits
fan running at what seems to be too slow of speed and at different speeds sometimes

    park mower in shop

start mower in shop and runs for 10 seconds and quits repeatedly
could not start mower at all, turn key and get pre start sequence but nothing else, does not turn over
after 5 minutes of trying then starts and quits
when running at various times decks can not be raised or lowered

    Any thoughts?????

Start looking for grounds... dont stop at the battery cable either. Check it at its termination and make sure all paint is gone and you have good contact. Check the engine block to frame if it has one, same deal. No paint and no rusty connectors/hardware. If it has a computer, check the harness close to it, there may be a few going to one bolt, again, no paint etc.

Of course, do all this after you have verified >12volts at the battery when off and sufficient voltage when running. Toros really like 12 volts or they will tell you so.

To verify electrical issues, do a voltage drop test. It will take you right to the problem without getting your hands dirty or disassembling any parts that you don't need to. Start at the battery and do both the positive and negative. Then you can move on to each circuit. Once you get the hang of it you will be amazed at how easy and fast you can trouble shoot your systems.

    Regards,

I was starting to type it out for you, but it may get long and confusing, well at least with me typing it out. I would just google it, there are some short 2 to 9 minute videos that will show the different steps. It easier to understand it when your watching someone do it. If you need some help form there feel free to contact me, email and number are in the directory.

    Regards,

    Brad,

What a great question, and kudos for asking it. I had to Google it too, no embarrassment there. Notice that there been over a hundred "views" of your thread? You're talking to two established wizards in our industry, Henry and Greg. If those guys can't help you locate the problem, then you're in trouble.

I'm following this thread to learn.

    Best of luck.

Yeah, had to look that up myself. As usual, Skip is lightyears ahead of me.

Although the symptoms you describe sound electronic, I would verify electrical function at the fuel solenoid, and also sufficient fuel flow to the Inj pump.

Do you have an "ACE" tool for this machine?

Thanks for the help. I talked to my Toro rep and the machine is still under warrenty so they are picking it up and will repair it at their shop. They believe that it is a board issue for the electrical issues and I noticed the hydraulic pump is missing a bolt and losing fluid.

I will definitely look into the drop test for future issues.
