Toro 3250 reels not spinning properly Cancel The title field is required!

   I am hoping someone can help me. We have an 2007 3250 that the reels just stopped spinning. we took it to our shop and loosened them up and they worked again. went out to cut this morning and they did fine on the first green but again stopped cutting. washed them out and loosened up the reels again and they work but when the reels are adjusted properly they will not turn. The right side reel (as you sit on the machine) will start but stop.
   
   The reels are not too tight because they are not even making contact when they are stopping.
   
   We swapped the solenoids on the unit but no difference. it almost seems like the hydraulic oil is not pressured going into the reels. The reels go up and down fine, the wheels turn like they are supposed to in forward or reverse. it just does not seem to have the power to cut (when sand gets into the reels they will stop.    Did you check or swap the S1 & R1 cartridge valves? If those are good then check reel motor case drain and if that checks out you will need to check the gear pump section for the reels with a flowmeter/pressure guage.

   yes we swapped the top sections of the two valves with no difference made. What or where is the reel motor case drain located. I do not see anything on the hydraulic schematic.

   So we have just tried comparing backlap to cut and still the same issue. However something I noticed is that when we first hit the engage throttle they come on right away but not full speed then after 15-30 seconds they jump into full speed (this is with the reels loose) and you can hear the difference.

   It sounds to me like the S1 cartridge valve is sticking by the way you are explaining it. That valve is normally open and routes the fluid back to the tank but when you turn the reels on it energizes the solenoid and closes the cartridge valve routing fluid to the reel motors. If that valve is sticking or not closing all the way you will not have the flow to the reel motors you need to run them under a load. Did you check that cartridge valve or swap it? The case drain is the small 3rd hose coming off each reel motor. The service manual is provided on Toro website and the case drain test is on page 78 in the hyd test section. btw what is the model and serial of the unit because to properly diagnose it that would help.

   Thanks for the info! We got in touch with Anthony from Jerry Pate and he instructed us to pull out the S1 valve from our 2012 3250 mower and swap it with the other one to see if it is the problem. That was it since everything work fast and strong.
