Hello everyone, We have a soil reliever aerifyer that we purchased right before Toro took them over. Up until now I have only used round tines in them but always noticed that the inside right set of tines tufted the turf more then the others. It did this with several different types of tines and we just went with it since it looked like it could only be one of the main arms as the culprit.
Today we went out with our knife tines which were all lined up front to back and they looked to be in perfect alingment but once we started aerifying we noticed that they were all punching on what looked to be an 45 degree angle. Has anyone noticed this about the soil relievers?
What is really odd is that the mount looks straight and the holes seem to be in alignment crosswise it is just the tines that are not in alignment. I know we can reset these to get them straight but it makes me wonder if this is part of my tufting problem.

When ours start tufting turf, we will replace the springs for that particular head. This typically relieves the tufting.

If your tines are going in at a 45, I would say you have a few bearings going out. Catch it now before the machine self destructs and costs you $$$. Learn from my fail.

    James,

If you would like to speak with an authority on Soil Reliever aerifiers, call James Hill in AZ at 602-741-8327. He has been in the contract aerifying business for over 20 years as ModernAerofication and he also manufactures aftermarket replacement parts for the machines as JSH Parts and Tines.
I just spoke with James to explain your problem to him. I am certain that he will have a solution for you and if you're interested in updating your machine to work better than it ever did before, James is the man to talk to.
