We have a large cold storage shed we have kept our dry topdressing sand in but after years of the weight pushing on the walls the main beams are starting to push out. Between that problem and the dust we are looking at other options.

To put the dry sand in our clubhouse parking lot would be inconvenient at best so we are looking at a sand storage tower or laying a pad (we have gravel surrounding the maintenance building) and putting concrete blocks on it to form three walls. The pad would have to be large enough we can scoop and load without leaving the pad so spillage can be put back into the pile.

Now that the sand storage silo's have been around awhile have they been a good investment? Are they durable?

Any hints on the sand storage bins from scratch.

I have attached several slides on bulk sand and amenity storage I use for my presentation on Turf Care Centers. Email or call if you'd like.

    My best, Mike

    Dave,

We use a 40' shipping container. It takes about an hour to put 25 tons of sand in the container. We save money by not having to use a pneumatic truck which is required if you have a sand silo. The container can be sold for probably the same amount we paid for it at any time if needed.
