While I grind on an SIP 2000, I do not have the cutting units you describe. I spoke with my SIP rep and he recommends connecting the chains together and loop them over your front roller connecting bolts or similar suitable location across the front. Keep in mind you may have to adjust for the grinding head to clear the chains. Another possibility is to use S hooks and connect to the frame where it meets the shield. I have used the chains connected for other reels and it works well, on some large reels I have added a small length of chain to accommodate the grinding head movement.
