On an archive search I did come across to stay away from the 4000 series tractors (thanks Andy), but while looking at government contract sites, I came across the 4105, 4120 that are in our budget. There is an option to get one with a 12F/12R transmission or one with the eHydro. Can anyone give me some info on these machines? Are there other suggestions for tractors of these sizes (I used to like the old Ford/New Hollands)? (43 HP 35 PTO HP range) and maybe other state contract sites we maybe able to piggy back off of?

What we would use it occasionally to pull a land pride but would mostly be used for fertilizing, seeding, box blade work etc.

    Thanks! Mel

    Mel,

Same series as the junk I currently have. Plastic tractors do me no good. Have switched to Kubota and loving every minute of it. Have you checked to see if Kubota has GSA pricing?

I'm with Andy. Love my new Kubota and saved nearly 4K over the comparable John Deere. Sure my Kubota was made overseas, but so are many of the Deere products as well.

**Yes, the 4120 is made in Augusta, GA.

Thanks guys, I have not seen the Kubota's on GSA, but will look. Maybe they will be on a state contract we can piggyback on. I did not see them on our MoDOT, they were all Deere's and a lot bigger tractors. Of course we're looking at contracts to be able to pick what we want if we can, but we can also go out to bid. I do remember about 16 years ago picking a Ford off the New Jersey state contract when I worked there.

    Thanks! Hope I hear more.

I checked out some of the other links on the GSA, no Kubota or any other tractors in that Horsepower range, they did have plenty of Kubota z-mowers, and a MF and Kubota 25 hp set ups with front end loaders and back hoes.

I was telling my seasonal mechanic an old retired air force mechanic who also worked for our parks dept. about your comments on plastic tractors, he joked, who doesn't make a plastic tractor anymore.

Kubota doesn't make plastic. At least not the L Grand series we have. All metal.

I would still get a quote form Kubota for what you are looking for. I'd be curious to see if they everyday price was lower than Deere's GSA price.

I have the John Deere and its terrible. I came from a course that was all Kubota L and M models and they are far superior.

We have a Kubota M4900 for all the jobs you had listed and it is THE BEST tractor I have seen in my 20 years in golf maintenance. We also have 2 of the L series as well that our operators prefer over any of our John Deere units. A tractor is not like a fairway mower with a short lifespan, and I will never hesitate to get a better tractor due to price. These 3 Kubota tractors will be around here long after I'm gone.
