Thanks Hector, you made it sound so simple that I think I could even fix it....of course I would get in trouble thinking.

Mel, don't sell yourself short. Hector gives some good points there, and the smaller the unit the harder it actually is to do. Bigger is better, and easier to rebuild, but you do have to deal with the weight. Also, on older units you need to beware of wear and know your limits, mic everything. Many years ago I did some older cylinders and the wear was great enough that blow-by took out the new seals in a very short period.

Them small seals are hard and tough to get in, great trick, H

    Henry,

Not selling myself short, I just know my limitations; just ask any of my classmates in our mechanics class at Lake City, I wasn't allowed to touch the tools.

I agree about the older cylinders, we have replaced some this winter on machines that are 8 and 12 years old. Didn't even think about rebuilding was worried about the wear.

I hate spending money on a new cylinder instead of rebuilding but I hate even more spending money on something that doesn't work.

You just have to get in there and try! these cylinders are not actually that bad. But just like Skip said BIGGER IS BETTER! lol
