I have seen in the new Toro catalogue Toro now offers a hover mower. Also seen Jacobsen does as well.

Any other good hover mower brands out there?

Did notice in specifications Toro will mow just under 1.5" while the Jacobsen will mow at 3".

Just wondering, because at one of our courses we have some pretty good bunker banks to maintain. Right now we can get most of it with a Toro Proline with about a 30 something inch deck and weedeaters. Sometimes it can be some tough mowing, plus tracking from the tires, running in the same path.

We are mowing fescue at about 3", but as I understand from old timers the architect had planned for balls hitting into the mounding would bounce down into the bunker, which doesn't always happen because of the 3" HOC. Wondering if the fescue will still do well at a lower HOC and achieve the architect's desired plan. We do have part circles around the greens that can be trained into the bunker slope areas if more water was needed at the lower HOC.

    Thanks!

We use the Air Force hover mower by seago international, set at about two inches, we do water bunker banks regularly. Great mower but runs gas so we use mixed fuel in them because of the angle they mow oil can't get up around crank sometimes. A crew of two will go out the day before and do as much of the top of the bunkers they can with 21 inch rotaries

We use Allen hover mowers which was bought by Toro, hence Toro now selling hover mowers. They do make a High Rise kit for the mower to allow you to cut at higher heights. We cut at 2.5". They are temperamental at times. Sand flying around getting into carburetor. Throttle cables seizing up. If the oil is any bit low they will shut themselves off do to the steep inclines.

For the last 8 to 10 years I have used Eastman Industries hover mowers. They make a 4 cycle that does great on slopes. They also make a couple of commercial push mowers that are built like tanks, and have held up to years of abuse.

I second the Air Force mowers by Seago. Best hover mowers we have ever used. Ours are setup with the SS blades and you can actually adjust the height somewhat with spacer rings.

We have Eastman and Airforce F-19 here and both seem to work well. Anyone using the Airforce F-15 2-stroke?
