This is all new to us and we are currently working on eduction, ways to deliver it, and we have always strived for a certification program. This is one reason we at IGCEMA wanted to become one with GCSAA. The benefits for EM members are the same as all others members with exception of voting and holding office. Also, as only Class A and CGCS members are allowed into the major tournaments, we as EM's are not, but that is the same as every other classification other than A and CGCS. The cost starting in 2016 is 95.00 per year. Any technician is welcome to join under the EM classifiaction, if your working on and maintaining equipment you may join, its, not just for the Equioment Managers who have a number of technicians. The eduction is currently being worked on, and the life insurance that members receive alone is worth the dues. In joining GCSAA, we feel we have reach a point where dissolving IGCEMA and merging in to GCSAA is the best thing for us to do, and will best serve our members, who are now welcomed into GCSAA, with a complementary membership for the remainder of 2015. We feel the benefits of education and working closely with superintendents will have a large impact on bettering our facilities, helping us bring more value to the superintendent and our clubs. Eduction is key with keeping current on equipment, and environmental awareness. More importantly we need to understand what superintendents need, how we can help you,and help improve our facilities while providing more value. We need to realize that we have a part too in the vitality of golf and industry. This can only happen when we work together and have support. Technicians need to approcah this industry as a career, not just a job. Again, education and networking are key to our growth and continued learning.
These are just my thoughts and opinions as I serve on this years task group committee. I hope this answers some of your questions. I'm sure GCSAA could do a much better job at it, but like I mentioned, thses are my thoughts. Continued education, communication, and certification are very important items to me as I groom young technicians to become head equipment managers.

Hery Heinz
