I am looking to replace my old fairway mower with a John Deere 1905. I have found one to purchase but I have yet to talk to anyone that operates one on a golf course. Need some info on maintence, operation, and reliability.

I used to work on a course that owned several 1905s. You should be aware that John Deere discontinued sales of the 1905 without having a replacement unit available. That should tell you something. For us they completely sucked. We experienced lots of down time with them. I think that most of the deere products are good stuff, but the 1905 is a dog. We had to repeatedly replace fuel tanks at over $1000 ea. due to leakage. Too many electronics, relays, proximity switches, computer issues. There were a lot of failures with electrical components. I personally would never buy one again.
